District Maristes d'Afrique Célébration des 25 ans |

| Le 29 avril, à Yaoundé, le district d’Afrique a célébré le 25e anniversaire de sa création et le 25e anniversaire de la présence Mariste au Cameroun. La célébration était présidé par Mgr Jean-Marie MBARGA, évêque de Ebolowa et l’administrateur apostolique de l’archidiocèse de Yaoundé. Le Père Kevin Duffy sm, assistant général pour l’Afrique, y représentait le Supérieur général. Le 17 juillet 2014 une autre célébration a eu lieu à Dakar, Sénégal, où les Maristes de la province de Lyon vinrent, en 1948, fonder une école à la demande de Mgr Lefebvre, alors archevêque de Dakar. Plusieurs Maristes africains continuent de travailler au Cours Sainte Marie, cette école commencée par les Maristes français et maintenant administrée par l’archidiocèse de Dakar. Le district travaille en ce moment à créer une nouvelle école et communauté mariste dans la périphérie de Dakar. |
The Marist District of Africa celebrated the twin 25th anniversary of its erection and the presence of the Marist Fathers in Camroon on 29th april 2014. The Eucahristic celebration to mark this event was highly attended and precided over by the Apostolic administrator of the archdiocese of Yaoundé, Mgr Jean-Marie MBARGA, (bishop of Ebolowa). Fr. Kevin Duffy sm, assistant general incharge of Africa represented the Super General at the occasion. In the same note, the Marist family in the Senegal sector, celebrated the 25th anniversary of the erection of the Marist District of Africa on July 17th 2014. The history of the Marist fathers in dates back to 1948 when the Marist fathers from the Marist province of Lyon arrived in Senegeal and started a college at the request of Mgr Lefebvre, then archbishop of Dakar. Cours Sainte Marie de Hann is now managed by the archdiocese of Dakar, but many African Marists continue to work in the college. |
