Pères Maristes  Qui sommes-nous ?
Training as a Marist priest or brother takes place in formation houses in provinces and districts in the Society.

The first stage of formation takes place, generally, in the unit the candidate comes from.

Further stages on the training process - the novitiate and the Theologate - are in an international context.		   La formation comme frère ou prêtre mariste se déroule dans les maisons de formation (ou séminaires) dans différentes parties du monde où la Congrégation est présente.

La première étape habituellement dans le pays d'origine du candidat et les étapes suivantes dans maisons internationales de formation, soit pour faire le noviciat ou les études théologiques.
Accompaniment   Accompagnement vocationnel

One of the best helps for discerning a vocation is a series of confidential conversations with a trustworthy person experienced in the spiritual life.

The Holy Spirit is working and calling us. In dialogue with a trustworthy person, we can gradually come to understand better and more clearly these movements of the Spirit within.

A prospective candidate is required to attend Marist vocation contact meetings or be in regular contact with a Marist Community for atleast one year or with a minimun periode of six months before requesting to start formation.

It is also advisable to have a short live-in experience with a Marist Community.

  

L'accompagnement vocationnel est l´étape qui précède le processus de formation en soi, mais en fait partie de façon intégrale.

Les membres de l'équipe des vocations d'une province (pays ou groupe de pays) y répondent à l'intérêt d'un jeune homme en lui proposant un chemin de prière, de connaissance de soi, d´approfondissement dans les motivations pour être religieux ou prêtre mariste.

Il devrait idéalement suivre un processus suffisamment long pour approfondir la compréhension mutuelle (le candidat de la Congrégation et la Congrégation du candidat), d´un an ou minimum de 6 mois, et il est très souhaitable qu´il fasse une expérience de vie de quelques semaines dans le cadre d´ une communauté mariste.

Pre - novitiate   Le pré-noviciat
The training or “formation” process begins by joining the Marist formation community, generally for a period of around 2 or 3 years.

During this time Marist seminarians:

  • live as part of the Marist formation community
  • are introduced to the Marist life
  • work out whether they would like to go to the Novitiate and become a Marist
  • study Philosophy at some university or religious center towards a Bachelor of Philosophy degree.
  • Philosophy for Africa District is at Mokassa (Nkolbisson).
  

Le processus de formation commence lorsque le candidat entre dans la communauté mariste de formation (séminaire), généralement pour une période de 1 à 3 ans.

Pendant ce temps les séminaristes maristes:

  • Font partie de la communauté mariste de formation où ils vivent
  • Sont introduits à la vie mariste
  • Se préparent à aller au noviciat mariste international
  • Ètudient la philosophie dans une université ou institut de formation pour prêtres.
  • Pour le District d'Afrique; Mokassa (Nkolbisson)
Novitiate   Le Noviciat

When a Marist seminary decides he wants to continue his life as a Marist, asked to be admitted to the International Marist Novitiate (currently in the Philippines, Davao).

He makes this request to the Superior General of the Society of Mary, Rome, in dialogue with top trainers and especially the largest in the province or district of the congregation and its directors.

Selected candidates will be invited to join with other youth from around the world in one year novitiate.

At the end of the novitiate seminarian professes as Marist and has the right to use SM (Society of Mary) after their name.		   Quand un séminariste mariste décide qu'il veut continuer sa vie comme mariste, il demande à être admis au noviciat mariste international (en ce moment aux Philippines (Davao).

Il fait cette demande au Supérieur Général de la Société de Marie, à Rome, en dialogue avec ses formateurs et avec le Supérieur Majeur de la province ou du district de la Congrégation et ses conseillers.

Les candidats sélectionnés seront invités à se joindre à d'autres jeunes de différentes régions du monde au noviciat pendant un an.

À la fin du noviciat, séminariste professe comme Mariste et a le droit de mettre SM (Société de Marie) après son nom.

Preparation for mission   Préparation pour la mission
At the end of the Novitiate the Marist seminarian is professed as a Marist and is entitled to place SM (Society of Mary) after his name.

He then returns home to prepare himself to go to the next stage.

Either he finishes his philosophy or starts his three years of theology in Rome.		   Après l'année du noviciat, il rentre dans son pays d'origine pour un temps déterminé par leur supérieur majeur, pour lui permettre de se préparer pour le théologat international à Rome pour poursuivre ses études de théologie à une université Romaine.

Cette phase dure généralement trois ans.
Pastoral placement   Expérience pastorale
At some stage, the Marist seminarian does a years of pastoral placement, working in a ministry in the district, or even working overseas in one of the Marist missions.   Le séminariste mariste vivra pendant un ans dans une communauté de mission soit dans le District ou à l'étranger.
Vows and sacred orders   Vœux et Ordres

The seminarian then returns to a Marist formation house and during this two years he:

  • Completes his studies
  • Takes his final vows as a Marist
  • Is ordained as a Deacon (priest students only)
  • Is ordained as a Priest.

After ordination, a newly ordained priest can expect to be placed in a supportive Marist community and occasionally gather with other newly ordained Marists either in his own province or district or in an international setting.

  

Pendant ce processus le séminariste mariste:

  • Complète ses études
  • Fait sa profession perpétuelle comme mariste
  • Est ordonné diacre (seulement les étudiants pour la prêtrise)
  • Est ordonné prêtre.

Après son ordination, le prêtre nouvellement ordonné peut s'attendre à être placé dans une communauté mariste de soutien et parfois rencontrer d'autres maristes nouvellement ordonnés de sa province et district
